The key to any great team is a polished workhorse behind the plate! Catchers are often considered the “offensive lineman” of baseball. They never get any of the credit and once they mess up everyone blames them!

Here at Prime Time Catching, we want to change that!

Prime Time Catching Description

During each session, our catchers will receive in-depth and professional style development. Each month will be geared toward specific aspects to focus on, rather than every skill at once. Here is a brief breakdown of each month:

October: Introduction to understanding the new concepts of catching. Begin to catch on one knee full time and learn the benefits of why the game is changing this way. Learn the transitions of one knee catching in game-like drills and situations. Learn the proper way to present the pitch and how to move the ball (framing). Learn the different one-knee stances with runners on base.

November: This month, we will continue to preach about framing and how to move the ball properly. How to call pitches in certain situations will also be incorporated. Teach each catcher how to find a connection with the ground and create limited pre-pitch movement. Create our reception to be as fluid as possible. Learn how to set up pre-pitch based on which pitch is called.

December: The primary focus of this final month will be on blocking and throwing. Learn how to block while catching on one knee. Emphasis on blocking side to side with a subtle push of the heel. Incorporate blocking with transitions and getting in the correct slot to make a throw quickly and accurately.

Our goal at the end of this session is for our catchers to have tremendous knowledge about how and why we catch one knee as well as the ability to do it smoothly. With our knowledge and experience at a high level of learning this position, we believe that each catcher will see great development in every aspect. We looking forward to working with each and every one of you that joins us!
